Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Rory Burns: Did Mitchell Starc Create A ‘Deja Vu’ During IND vs AUS 2nd Test?

Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck during the Day 1 of IND vs AUS 2nd Test by Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. The young Indian batter who had smashed a ton in the previous Test and took on the Australian pacer with ease, had no clue to an inswinging fullish length delivery from the modern day legend. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t only smashed sixes off Starc but tried to sledge him with a viral, ‘you bowl too slow’ comment.

While, Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck with an inswinging delivery, it reminded the dismissal England opener Rory Burns during the Australia vs England 1st Test played at ‘The Gabba’ in Brisbane. The major similarities between Jaiswal and Burns’ dismissals were that both the batters got dismissed on the first ball of the match, and almost tried to play the same kind of shot. The difference is, Jaiswal was caught in front, whereas Rory Burns was cleaned up behind his legs.

The Indian team was wrapped up for a score of 180 runs in the first innings of IND vs AUS 2nd Test. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc ended up the innings with a six-wicket haul wherein he dismissed top batters KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Other bowlers Scott Boland and Pat Cummins tasted success and Scott Boland which helped the hosts to wrap up the Indian team early.
