World’s Richest Man Elon Musk Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 2025 – Key Facts To Know About Him

Tesla CEO and head of the Department of Government Efficiency for the United States, Elon Musk has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. European Parliament member Branko Grims confirmed that a proposal for Elon Musk’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 has been successfully submitted to the Norwegian Nobel Committee. He wrote in a Facebook post, “The proposal for Mr. Elon Musk to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025 for his consistent advocacy for the fundamental human right of freedom of speech and thus for peace has been successfully submitted today. Sincere thanks to all co-proposers and to everyone who assisted in this challenging project.”

Things To Know About Elon

Elon Musk, born on June 28, 1971 is a businessman and head of the Department of Government Efficiency for the United States. He is the richest person in the world; as of January 2025. Forbes estimates his net worth to be US$427 billion. Musk was born in Pretoria and at the the age of 18 he immigrated to Canada. Musk along with his brother Kimbal, and Greg Kouri founded Global Link Information Network, later renamed as Zip2 in 1995. The company created an online city guide featuring maps, directions, and yellow pages, which it marketed to newspapers.

Musk co-founded seven companies, including Tesla, the electric car manufacturer, SpaceX, the rocket producer, and xAI, an artificial intelligence startup. In 2022, he acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal (enterprise value). However, Forbes estimates that by August 2024, the social media platform, now renamed X, is valued at nearly 70% less.

Musk founded SpaceX in May 2002 and assumed the position of company’s CEO and chief engineer. The company attempted its first launch of the Falcon 1 rocket in 2006. In 2015, SpaceX developed Starlink, the satellite internet service.

He founded Musk foundation 2001. The foundation aims to provide solar-power energy systems in disaster areas; support research, development, support science and engineering educational efforts.

Musk was first listed on the Forbes Billionaires List in 2012. He was appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency for the United States in 2024.
