What feeling you had before and after Dhoni’s run-out? Neesham gives hilarious reply recalling CWC’19 semis

Devon Conway has taken the whole cricketing fraternity by storm. In only his first Test, the New Zealand left-hander entered the record books by slamming a double ton in the ongoing series opener versus England at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground, London.

Conway batted right throughout the innings and completed his double century with a six as his knock helped Kiwis post a challenging 378 in the first essay, after opting to bat first. Conway played James Anderson and Stuart Broad with aplomb and was eventually dismissed due to a run-out, resulting in the end of New Zealand’s innings.

After his run-out, all-rounder James Neesham took to his official Twitter handle and reacted in the following manner:

To this, a Twitter user asked the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) player to share his thoughts and feelings before and after MS Dhoni’s run-out during the high-voltage semi-final clash between India and New Zealand in 2019 ODI World Cup.

Neesham, who is known for his wit and humour, left one and all in splits with his reply.

He wrote, “Before: Cool we’re probably gonna win
After: Cool we’re definitely gonna win”

Talking about the India-New Zealand semi-final clash in the last ODI World Cup, it was a two-day affair due to rain playing spoilsport on the first day at Old Trafford, Manchester. Chasing a modest 240, the Virat Kohli-led Team India were reeling at 92-6 before Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni resurrected India’s run-chase.

The duo stitched an impressive 118-run partnership for the seventh wicket before Jadeja (77) was dismissed, soon followed by Dhoni (50). The former Indian captain’s run-out in the penultimate over, by Martin Guptill, sealed India’s fate in the tournament as they lost by 18 runs to bow out of the mega event. Eventually, England defeated New Zealand in the summit clash to win their first-ever ODI World Cup title.

Meanwhile, Day 3 of England-New Zealand’s first Test, at Lord’s, has seen a delayed start on Friday (June 4) due to rain. Riding on Conway’s 200, Kiwis lead England by 267 runs with Joe Root & Co. going to stumps on Day 2 at 111/2.
