Vicky Kaushal is finally back in theatres with his most-awaited historical film ‘Chhaava’ and has been receiving a tremendous response for his performance. The movie is based on the life of Maratha King Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. It was rumoured that the movie was initially offered to Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu but he rejected it. However, director Laxman Utekar set the record straight that Vicky was his first choice for the movie.
Talking about casting Vicky in Chhaava, Laxman said at a pre-release event, “Vicky Kaushal has always been my only choice for Chhaava. Even in my dreams, he has been my hero for Chhaava. Any director can make a good film with an actor like Vicky. He is not just a great actor but also a wonderful human. I consider myself lucky because mere Chhaava ke liye ye Chhaava mila (I got a Chhaava for the film Chhaava).”
Vicky recently celebrated the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Sharing the pictures, he wrote, “Today on the occasion of #ChhatrapatiShivajiJayanti, I had the good fortune of paying my respects at #RaigadFort. It was my first time here and there couldn’t have been a better time to come and take blessings from Maharaj. आप सभी को छत्रपति शिवाजी जयंती की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ! जय जिजाऊ, जय शिवराय, जय शंभू.”
Vicky Kaushal played the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the eldest son of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Kingdom. Akshaye Khanna is seen as Aurangze, the sixth Mughal emperor. Rashmika will star as Maharani Yesubai, who was the wife of Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
The movie also stars Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar in pivotal roles. It is produced By Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films and co-produced by Sharada Karki Jalota and Pooja Prem Patheja. Meanwhile, the screenplay is done by Laxman Utekar, Rishi Virmani, Kaustubh Savarkar, Unman Bankar and Omkar Mahajan.
