Virat Kohli On The Verge Of Achieving Big ODI Milestone, Sachin Tendulkar’s Record Under Threat

Virat Kohli is on the verge to achieve a big milestone in the ODI format as he prepares for three-match ODI series against England. The 36-year old batter will become the fastest player to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs breaking the record previously set by the legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Record Under Threat

In February 2006, Sachin Tendulkar achieved this record in his 350th ODI match against Pakistan in Peshawar. Even though India lost by 7 runs (DLS Method) the record still stands strong but Virat Kohli is just behind the line. Kohli has accumulated 13,906 runs in 283 innings with an incredible average of 58.18 and is just nearing the landmark achievement.

Virat Kohli’s Recent Struggles

Virat had a stellar outing in ODI World Cup 2023 as he scored his 50th ODI century breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Despite remarkable stats Virat Kohli has been struggling from a rough patch, in the last ODI series against Sri Lanka he only scored 58 runs from 3 games and registered scored of 24, 14, and 20 with an average of 19.33.

Kohli’s Inconsistent Form

Kohli scored a century in Perth in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but after that he fared poorly in the whole tournament. There have been cameos of success but inconsistency was still there. In his much-awaited Ranji Trophy return Virat Kohli was clean bowled at a mere score of 6 by Railways bowler Himanshu Sangwan.

With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, Kohli’s primary focus will be to find his rhythm and return to his best.
