Aaradhya Bachchan Takes Legal Action Against Google; Read To Know What Happened!

Aaradhya Bachchan has approached the Delhi High Court to remove the misleading content about her that is circulating online. As per the Bar and Bench, the court has responded to her appeal and issued a legal notice for a summary judgment against the spread of false information regarding the 13-year-old.

Legal Notices Sent To Various Platforms

The legal notices have been sent to various online platforms including, Google, Bollywood Times, and others allegedly responsible for spreading misinformation. The next hearing on the case is reported to be scheduled on March 17.

However, isn’t the first time Aaradhya has taken legal action- way back in April 2023, the Delhi High Court had ordered Google to remove videos falsely claiming she was ‘critically ill’ or had passed away.

In 2023, Justice C Hari Shankar condemned the circulation of such misleading content, emphasising that every child has the right to dignity and privacy. He stated that sharing false or negative information about any minor’s health is ‘completely unacceptable in law.’

The court ordered Google to disclose details of the content uploaders and quickly remove any misleading videos. Additionally, the central government was asked to take steps to block such content while ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

Defamation And Trademark Violation Allegations

The lawsuit also targets YouTube channels such as Bollywood Time, Bolly Pakora, Bolly Samosa, and Bollywood Shine, which allegedly published defamatory videos about Aaradhya’s health and private life. The plea states that these false claims may hamper the Bachchan family’s name, which is a ‘protectable trademark’ associated with many of the highest virtues.

Moreover, it alleges that the creators of these misleading videos aimed to generate controversy and gain popularity while profiting from sensationalised content.

With the legal proceedings underway, this case highlights the ongoing battle against online misinformation and the importance of protecting individuals from digital defamation.
