Uttarakhand: 4 Dead, 21 Injured As Bus Falls Into Ditch In Bhimtal; CM Dhami Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex-Gratia

In a tragic incident, four people were dead and 21 injured after a roadways bus fell into a ditch about 100 meters deep in the Bhimtal area of Uttarakhand’s Nainital  As per the officials, the bus belonged to Roadways and was going from Bhimtal to Haldwani with 20 to 25 people travelling on the bus.

Upon receiving the information, an SDRF relief team arrived at the scene, and the rescue operation is currently underway.
“Today, on 25 December 2024, information was received from the District Control Room, Nainital that a roadways bus has crashed near Bhimtal, on which the rescue teams of SDRF have left for the spot from Post Nainital and Khairna,” SSP Nainital Prahlad Meena said.

CM Dhami Expresses Grief

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed grief over the bus accident near the Bhimtal area of Uttarakhand’s Nainital in which several people have been injured.
In a post on X, CM Dhami said that the local administration has been directed to carry out immediate relief and rescue operations.
“The news of the bus accident near Bhimtal is very sad. The local administration has been directed to carry out immediate relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travellers,” he wrote on X.

Govt Announces Compensation

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that Rs 10 Lakh of relief amount will be provided to the families of the deceased, Rs 3 lakhs to the seriously injured persons and Rs 15- 25000 to the normally injured persons.

On Bhimtal accident, SP Nainital, Dr Jagdish Chandra said, “A roadways bus was heading from Pithoragarh to Haldwani. The driver lost control of the bus and it fell into a deep gorge…The injured have been rescued with the help of locals. 21 people have been injured and 4 people have died…”
