Uttar Pradesh: BJP’s Varun Gandhi attacks Yogi govt over plight of farmers, alleges corruption in agri mandis

BJP MP Varun Gandhi once again attacked his party-led government in Uttar Pradesh over the plight of farmers and went on to allege corruption in agri mandis in the state this time.

He shared a video of him talking to a government official at a mandi in Bareilly and raising the issue of hardships farmers have to face in daily life.

In the video, the BJP leader can be heard alleging a “nexus” between officials and middlemen which is forcing farmers to sell their grains at a much lower price than stipulated and added that it is visible across the country.

He is also heard warning the official that if his representative records any evidence of corruption or ill-treatment to farmers, then he will not make any request to the government but instead move court and get such officials arrested.

“At every procurement centre in the state there is crippling corruption which is completely out in the open. Farmers’ grains are forcibly rejected after which they sell their produce out of desperation to middlemen. The administration takes a cut,” he alleged

Apparently, he made a surprise visit at an agri market and pulled up the officials running it.

In another tweet, Varun Gandhi said, “I examined 5 Kante (Weighing Scale), 3 of which are only on paper not on ground. Nation running due to farmers. They’re in same poor condition. Their crops are being rejected due to false reasons. Want to ask ppl if they want to see them in condition same as 1920?”

Varun Gandhi has been continuously supporting the farmers and their issues and has reportedly incurred the wrath of his party
