UP polls: Inspired by Lord Krishna, BJP MP urges Nadda to declare Yogi Adityanath’s candidature from Mathura

BJP MP Harnath Singh Yadav has requested party president JP Nadda to declare Yogi Adityanath’s candidature from Mathura constituency for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections 2022.

In his letter to Nadda, Yadav said he was inspired by Lord Krishna for his demand of declaring the incumbent chief minister to be the party’s candidate from Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi.

Yogi Adityanath has confirmed he will contest the upcoming UP elections 2022 but has left the decision on the Assembly seat on the party leadership.

“I will fight the election from wherever the party says,” Adityanath said on January 1 when asked whether he will contest the UP elections 2022 from Ayodhya, Mathura, or from his bastion Gorakhpur.

“Whatever was said, was done. There is no work left for which there should be any regret,” he told the mediapersons when asked to comment on his five-year tenure as Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

Addressing a rally in Farrukhabad recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath raised the pitch for a grand temple of Lord Krishna in Mathura.

“Jab Ayodhya ho saka, toh Mathura-Vrindavan kaise chhod denge (If Ayodhya can happen, then how can we not make Mathura-Vrindavan a reality’,” he said in the rally.

In December 2021, Mathura was in the news after Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha had sought permission to install an idol of Lord Krishna at the deity’s “actual birthplace”, which it claimed is inside the Shahi Idgah Masjid.

Following the Hindu Mahasabha’s demand, the UP government had heightened the security near the Katra Keshav Dev temple and the Shahi Idgah.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Mathura Hema Malini had also said that she wants a grand temple of Lord Krishna constructed in the holy city along the lines of Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath.
