TV actress Shagufta Ali on financial problems: Stress aggravated my diabetes, affected my legs

TV actress Shagufta Ali, has been a part of the entertainment industry since 36 years. Currently, she is going through a tough period in her life. The actress has not got work since the past five years. She has been battling depleting finances due to poor health conditions. The constant worry for survival took a toll on her health.

During an exclusive interview with Times Now Digital, the Bepannah actress opened up about her medical condition. She revealed that due to her financial problems, she started taking stress which aggravated her diabetes.

 “I took so much of stress and it took a toll on my health. The stress aggravated my diabetes. It affected my legs. The nerves got affected. Numbness and pain exists. Maybe my immune system has become low after my cancer surgery and chemotherapy. Health issues started happening to me earlier in life. I could not treat my legs and then had to do my eye treatment. Mom also has osteoarthritis, blood pressure, spondylitis, vertigo to name a few” she said.

Shagufta also further said that she has been battling diabetes for six years. “I had it 6-6.5 years back, I was on medicine and was controlling with my diet and everything. Jaise waqt guzrta gaya waise (As time passed) stress level badhke (increased), diabetes became high” the actress said.

The actress further revealed that “The lockdown thing happened and it was an added masala to my life. Extra mirchi ka tadka de diya life ne (Added spice to my life). My lockdown had started 5 years back but ye lockdown ne usko aur double kar dia (This lockdown worsened condition)”, she remarked. 

 

When asked about whether it was difficult for the actress to talk about her financial issues, she said that she had to make the decision. “I kept waiting for ki ab theek ho jaega. I had sold my car, jewellery. Luckily jewellery jama ki thi, jab acha kamate thei tab thodi bahut bana ke rakh hi leta hai (I had some jewellery, which I had made when I used to earn). It came to my help and didn’t have to take any monetary help from anyone for that period of time“, told the actress.

 

Although Shagufta also said that she was not expecting financial help from anyone, as in her 36 years, 32 years were good. She had taken care of her illness, accidents, mom’s health. dad and nani’s health issues. Although she feels, “Ek jaise waqt nai chalta hai ensan ka. Kabhi na kabhi ups and downs aate hai“. (Translation: Time keeps changing and ups and downs are a part of life).

On the work front, she is best known for her roles in Saans, Sasural Simar Ka and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.
