Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express: Railway Authorities Likely To Add Double No. Of Coaches Amid Rising Deman

The Vande Bharat Trains are going through an upgrade, with reports indicating that the sleeper version will soon hit the tracks. With a surge in the demand for Vande Bharat train service between Tirunelveli to Chennai Egmore, the railways authorities are reportedly planning to double the number of coaches. However, an official announcement by the Railways is still awaited.

In light of the increase in demand for the express train in the region, the Madurai Railway Division has proposed converting the 8-boggy Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat into a 16-coach Express Train. A positive response is expected soon by the railways regarding the approval of the proposal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express on September 24, 2023. Additionally, Madurai-Bengaluru-Madurai and Nagarkol-Chennai Egmore-Nagarkol Vande Bharat were also launched on August 31, 2024.

According to media reports, Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Train’s timely schedule is one of the major reasons for its high demand among passengers.

Departure from Tirunelveli at 6 am

Arrival at Chennai Egmore station at 1.50 pm

Stop at Madurai at 7.50 am and Trichy at 9.50 am

Departure again from Chennai Egmore at 2.50 pm

Arrival at Tirunelveli At 10.40

Reports revealed that the Tirunelveli District Passengers Association has also passed a resolution requesting additional coaches for the train. A decision on the same is expected soon, Sharad Srivastava, Madurai Divisional Railway Manager said.
