David Miller Inches Short Of Majestic Record After Fiery 82-Run Knock In SA vs PAK 1st T20I

South African batter David Miller played a mind-blowing knock of 82 runs from 40 balls and guided the Proteas to a 11-run win over Pakistan in the first T20I. Miller smashed four fours and eight sixes during his stay at the crease and batted with a strike rate of 205.00. Apart from Miller, George Linde played an innings of 48 runs from 24 balls which included three fours and four sixes. In the end, South Africa registered a first-innings score of 183/9 in 20 overs. Chasing down the target, Pakistan fell short of the target by just 11 runs and ended up losing the match.

While, David Miller ended up becoming the hero of the match for the South African team, he is just few inches away from registering a major feat in T20Is for South Africa. Miller moved to the second spot in the list of batters for most runs in T20I cricket. The left-handed batter has scored 2550 runs as of now and is just only behind Quinton de Kock, who sits at the top with 2584 runs. Here is the list of top five run scorers for South Africa in T20I cricket:

Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed picked up three-wickets apiece followed by a two-wicket haul from Abbas Afridi. Pakistan have been among the least performing sides in the T20I cricket during the last few times. The Pakistani team was given tough time by Zimbabwe the past T20I series and were knocked out from the T20 World Cup 2024 in the first round of the tournament.
