The Vande Bharat Trains are going through an upgrade, with reports indicating that the sleeper version will soon hit the tracks. With a surge in the demand for Vande Bharat train service between Tirunelveli to Chennai Egmore, the railways authorities are reportedly planning to double the number of coaches. However, an official announcement by the Railways is still awaited.
In light of the increase in demand for the express train in the region, the Madurai Railway Division has proposed converting the 8-boggy Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat into a 16-coach Express Train. A positive response is expected soon by the railways regarding the approval of the proposal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express on September 24, 2023. Additionally, Madurai-Bengaluru-Madurai and Nagarkol-Chennai Egmore-Nagarkol Vande Bharat were also launched on August 31, 2024.
According to media reports, Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Train’s timely schedule is one of the major reasons for its high demand among passengers.

Arrival at Chennai Egmore station at 1.50 pm
Stop at Madurai at 7.50 am and Trichy at 9.50 am
