Suryakumar Yadav will score big hundreds for India: Ex-Pakistan skipper lauds MI star after Sri Lanka heroics

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has backed in-form batsman Suryakumar Yadav to score daddy hundreds for Team India in international cricket. Impressed by the rapid rise of the Mumbai Indians (MI) star, the former Pakistan opener and full-time pundit has come up with the massive claim about the flamboyant batsman of the Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India side.

Ever since Suryakumar received his maiden call-up for Team India, the premier batsman has been busy showcasing his batting exploits in the international arena. Butt, who has become one of the latest admirers of Suryakumar’s batting style in the cricket spectrum, said that the Indian batsman has ‘excellent wrist work’ and his shot selection is also ‘really good’.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former Pakistani cricketer opined that Suryakumar is a sensible player who reads the spinners quite remarkably. Butt credited Suryakumar for playing mystery spinners in the best manner. A player who is fond of playing big shots and targets the gaps while batting, Suryakumar has a great range of shots and the Indian batsman has been leading India’s charge in the Sri Lanka series.

“The risk factor in his shots is less. The speciality of a top-class player is that he maintains a good strike rate and it doesn’t seem like he is taking too many risks to maintain it. There is a lot of calmness in Suryakumar Yadav’s batting,” Butt said. Thanks to his spectacular run in the twin Sri Lanka series, Suryakumar has also earned his maiden Test call-up for the upcoming high-profile bilateral series in England.

I would love to see him score hundreds. Of course, the T20Is are going on now. But given the kind of batsman he is, I think Suryakumar Yadav will score big hundreds. He is a special talent on display,” the former Pakistani cricketer added.
