SRH being controlled by someone from outside: Ajay Jadeja feels David Warner was not in full control

Former Team India all-rounder Ajay Jadeja feels Australian opener David Warner was not in full control during his recent captaincy stint at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the wake of SRH’s abysmal run, the Hyderabad think tank opted to strip Warner from the captainship midway through the 14th edition of the cash-rich league.

Warner, who guided the Hyderabad-based franchise to their maiden IPL title in 2016 has been replaced by  Kane Williamson as the new captain of the Orange Army for the remainder of the season. Taking cognisance of the decision made by the SRH management, former cricketer Jadeja opined that the Hyderabad franchise in the IPL is being controlled by ‘someone from outside’.

Speaking to Cricbuzz during an interaction, the former Indian all-rounder and full-time cricket pundit observed that Warner was not in full control during his recently concluded captaincy stint at SRH. Jadeja recalled how Warner reacted after Manish Pandey was left out of playing XI when SRH locked horns with Delhi Capitals earlier in the 14th season of the cash-rich league.

“It was evident that SRH is being controlled by someone from the outside – coach, management, whoever. But the captain Warner was not in full control. He himself stated that the selection of the final XI is not done by him so he does not have a complete say in it,” Jadeja was quoted as saying.

One of the most consistent performers in the IPL, Warner was not only relieved from the captaincy duties but the Aussie southpaw has been dropped from SRH playing XI in the ongoing IPL 2021.  SRH are rock bottom with just 2 points from six matches in the IPL 2021. Under Warner, SRH were languishing at the bottom of the points table after just one win in their first six matches.
