A retired army Lance Naik suffered critical injuries after terrorists opened fire on him and his family in Behibagh, Kulgam, South Kashmir, on Monday. The victim, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries, according to police sources. Wagay’s wife and niece also suffered leg injuries in the attack.

The incident occurred near their home, prompting a swift response from local police and security forces. The injured family members were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. While the wife and niece are reported to be stable, Wagay could not be saved and died in the hospital.

A senior police officer confirmed the incident, stating that a cordon has been established in the area to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack. The resurgence of terrorist attacks on former security personnel has been observed after a long gap in Kashmir, raising concerns among the police.
