PM’s latest victim and member of ‘forced retirement club’: Opposition on BS Yediyurappa’s exit

Hours after BS Yediyurappa’s resignation as Karntaka Chief Minister, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Monday said that there is no benefit for the common man if one corrupt CM is removed to make another corrupt person CM.

“Nothing good will happen in Karnataka even after Yediyurappa’s departure. There is no benefit for the common man if one corrupt CM is removed to make another corrupt (person) CM. Instead, the entire BJP, which is responsible for miseries of people, should be ousted,” Siddaramaiah said.

After months of speculation over his exit, Yediyurappa earlier today stepped down as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, coinciding with his government completing two years in office.

Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala said Yediyurappa is yet another “victim” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has a record of allegedly forcing retirements of senior BJP leaders. He alleged that it is Delhi’s autocracy that decides chief ministers and not the will of BJP MLAs.

“The ignominy, torment and insult being heaped upon Sh. B.S.Yediyurappa by Modi ji, dictating him to tender his resignation, makes him PM’s latest victim and member of the ‘forced retirement club’. We now know that Delhi’s autocracy decides CM’s and not the will of BJP’s MLAs,” Surjewala wrote on Twitter.

“The stark reality is that Modiji habitually insults and compulsorily throws senior BJP Leaders in dustbin of history,” the Congress leader alleged.

“Modiji’s record is replete with painful and forcible retirements of Advaniji, MM Joshiji, Keshubhai Patelji, Shanta Kumarji, Yashwant Sinhaji and many others. The list of Modiji’s victims in BJP doesn’t end here,” Surjewala said.

The 78-year-old BJP veteran who submitted his resignation to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at the Raj Bhavan here, said he quit “voluntarily” and that there is no pressure on him from the party leadership.

“I had decided to resign two months ago, as we complete two years of our government today. I thought it was apt to resign now and have submitted the resignation to the Governor, and he has accepted it,” Yediyurappa told reporters.
