At least three people were killed and 20 others left injured in a blast that took place in a residential area of Pakistan’s Lahore on Wednesday.
A number of reports claimed that the blast occurred near the residence of Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in Lahore’s Johar Town.
“Our investigators and officials from bomb disposal squad are working to find out any clue to what exactly happened,” Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar told the media.
A Capital City Police Officer has also told Ary News that the cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has, meanwhile, asked IG police to probe the incident and submit a report. “Those responsible for the blast should be brought under the law,” said Buzdar.
He further directed the authorities to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid also asked the Punjab chief secretary and IG to submit a report and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“The nature of the blast is being determined,” he said, adding that the federal government will provide assistance to the provincial government to probe the incident.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Deputy Commissioner has asked hospitals to be on alert.
