Raising dounts on the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine, over 2000 cops in Uttarakhand have tested positive for the virus during the second wave of coronavirus. Reports suggest that about 92% of them had received both the doses of the Covid-19 vaccination.
According to date, out of the 2382 policement who tested Covid-19 positive in the state during the second wave while they were on duty between April and May, 2204 cops have already recovered. Meanwhile, five have lost their battle to the deadly disease.
The data also shows that out of the five policemen who died, two had comorbodoties. The other three had not been vaccinated yet. While speaking to the media, DIG (law and order) and Uttarakhand police chief spokesperson Nilesh Anand Bharne said that the severity of the Covid-19 cases as well as the deaths being reported due to the virus is low.
He also said that the vaccine makers have not guaranteed that no deaths woidld occur or nobody would test positive after taking the jabs. Some of the policemen who succumbed to the virus had earlier been posted on duty at the Kumbh Mela site.
Bharne, however, refuted any links between their deaths and the Kumbh meal and said that they are not connected at all
