Olectra Greentech today commenced trials of 6×4 heavy-duty electric tipper. After this development, company announces entering into truck manufacturing of heavy-duty electric tipper platform.
Olectra tipper will have a range of 220-km on a single charge. The truck is built on a heavy-duty bogie suspension tipper which is capable of managing gradability of more than 25 percent.
The manufacturing will be scaled up in the state-of-the-art facility coming up on the outskirts of Hyderabad soon.
KV Pradeep, CMD said, “Olectra has now begun heavy-duty tipper trials. This is the first of its kind truck in India. This breakthrough gives us immense pleasure and a moment of pride.”
He further added, “As the fossil fuel costs are skyrocketing, the electric trucks will be a game-changer in the segment. This first of its kind tipper has many super performance features. As the market is looking for cost-effective and highly efficient tippers, we can deliver.”

While the electric truck industry is in the trial phase right now, on the other hand India’s EV industry had a good FY22.
Electric vehicle retail sales saw a 3x jump in last financial year. The two-wheeler segment was the best performer according to data by FADA. Total EV retail sales were at 4,29,217 units in 2021-22, versus 1,34,821 units in the FY 2020-21.
