Shahid Kapoor, hands down, is one of the best actors we’ve ever seen and an actor who has proved his mettle in every frame. Although during his initial years in showbiz. most of his films didn’t do well at the box office, his performance and acting sensibilities have always been lauded. But things took a sudden turn for the actor with Amrita Rao starrer Vivah that was an instant hit at the box office and received thumbs up from the audience and critics too. Since then, Shahid has been extremely selective with his films.
Shahid was last seen in Kabir Singh that released in 2019. The film was the official Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy alongside Kiara Advani. The actor then signed Jersey that is a remake of another Telugu film with the same name. The sports drama is written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film is produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi. The film stars Pankaj Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi and Mrunal Thakur in the lead.
Recently, Shahid held an AMA session on Twitter and was quizzed on his upcoming and highly anticipated release. He was quizzed on his favourite director. Not Imtiaz Ali who directed Jab We Met or Vishal Bharadwaj who directed Haider, but Shahid went on to choose the captain behind the Jersey ship.
He wrote, “To be honest I think he is my favourite so far”
In a nutshell, the film is based on a 36-year-old cricketer who stopped playing the game and aims to make it back to the Indian cricket team. In the interaction, Shahid was also quizzed on Nani to which he said, “I think @NameisNani did an amazing job in jersey. He made me cry. So I would say he inspired me to do this film.” Speaking about Mrunal Thakur, he wrote, “Yes she is is lovely. We had a great time. She is extremely talented. And loads of fun.”
Shahid has already begun work on his next proect, a webseries hailed by Raj & DK. The project also stars Raashii Khanna and Vijay Sethupathi. On the personal front, Shahid is married to Mira Rajput and a doting father to Misha and Zain.
