‘No imminent Cabinet reshuffle anytime soon’: BJP’s UP in-charge dismisses speculation

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) national vice-president Radha Mohan Singh  downplayed reports suggesting an imminent Cabinet reshuffle in Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government. He, however, added that the Chief Minister may appoint new ministers at an appropriate time.

Singh, who is also the BJP’s UP in-charge, met with Governor Anandiben Patel earlier today and described the meeting as a “personal” one. He also met Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit in Lucknow.

About his meeting with Governor Patel, he said he had come to meet her because he had not been able to meet her for some time.

“After becoming the party’s in-charge of UP, I have not met the governor,” he said.

He continued saying, “When she was the Gujarat chief minister, I was the agriculture minister. I had an old association with Gujarat. As I could not meet her in the past six months, I met her today. This was a personal meeting.”

While speaking to media about the possibility of a Cabinet reshuffle in the state, the senior BJP leader said “there is nothing like that happening anytime soon”.

When asked about the Cabinet expansion to fill some ministerial berths, Radha Mohan Singh said some seats are vacant but they are not major ones.

“As far as vacant seats are concerned, the chief minister will take a decision at an appropriate time,” he added.

He also opined that the saffron party has the strongest organisation and most popular government in Uttar Pradesh, and it is working really well.
