Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark has been crowned as the 73rd Miss Universe. The prestigious ceremony was held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on November 16. Victoria won the title among 125 contestants and this also marked the first-ever victory of Denmark in the Miss Universe pageant. Mexico’s María Fernanda Beltrán and Nigeria’s Cnidimma Adetshina emerged as the first and second runner-up respectively.

Rhea Singh from India made it top 30 but couldn’t qualify for the top 12.  Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri and Venezuela’s Ileana Marquez were in the top five.

Meanwhile, announcing the winner, the official Instagram page of Miss Universe wrote, “A night to remember! Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig shines bright as Miss Universe 2024. Her winning answer stole our hearts: ‘No matter where you come from, no matter your past, you can always choose to turn it into your strengths.”

Victoria looked like a dream in a shimmery pink bodycon gown and became emotional after she was announced as the winner of Miss Universe 2024.

Netizens congratulated Victoria on her big win and also praised other contestants. One fan wrote, “Congrats to Denmark for winning Miss Universe! An outstanding achievement and a well-deserved victory! Also, big cheers to Nigeria for their amazing performance and incredible presence – it’s been wonderful to see them shine!”

Another commented, “Congratulations, Denmark! 🇩🇰 I wanted Nigeria to win though but, they have chosen a deserving lady! CONGRATULATIONS.”

Some people also commented that Miss Universe has lost its old glamour. An Instagram user wrote, “This year’s MU was not its best moment. The main host? Boring. The choice of host country wasn’t impressive, and the stage production was pretty underwhelming. This was not it. Bring back the glam, the drama, the universe in Miss Universe! Anyway, Congrats Denmark kakkkkkkk!”

Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned as Miss Universe in 2023.
