Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Dry Days Ahead! Liquor Shops To Remain Closed On THESE Dates

Maharashtra is going to hold its assembly election on November 20, 2024. The counting of votes and result will be out on November 23. According to Election Commission of India, there will be ban on sale of liquor across Mumbai and other cities due do Maharashtra assembly election.

Dry day means complete ban on sale of alcohol on particular day. Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra, like Thane and Pune had dry day on November 12 due to Kartik Ekadashi.

The ECI has announced polling for Maharashtra election will be held on November 20. The voting for 288 assembly constituencies will go in a single phase.

Scheduled Dates For Dry Day

The Election Commission has mentioned the schedule for liquor ban in Mumbai. On November 18, 2024, the sale of liquor will be banned after 6 pm in Mumbai . On November 19, that is a day before election, full dry day will be seen in Mumbai.

And on the day of voting, that is November 20, the ban on the sale of liquor in will remain in Mumbai until 6 pm.

November 23, the date of result announcement to have complete ban on sale of liquor in Mumbai till 6 pm.

The order of cities in Maharashtra to have dry day is to maintain law and order on the day of polling. This will help in smooth conduct of polling process.

BMC Announces Holiday for Their Employees

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced that there will be holiday for employees working in businesses and offices within BMC on November 20 because of polling day in Maharashtra.

Commissioner of BMC Bhushan Gagrani, stated that strict action will be taken against the employer who fails to follow the order. He mentioned that employees taking leave on November 20 will not face salary deduction.
