Former BCCI president and current ICC chair, Jay Shah, has once again been in the headlines. The 36-year-old has been mentioned in the Open Minds Magazine, a list that honours achievers from various fields and finds a spot in the top 50. This award has been presented to the Youngest president of the International Cricket Council, Jay Shah, who has been incentivized for his role as a cricket administrator by Open Magazine.

Jay Shah’s Emergence As a Visionary Leader of the Gujarat Cricket Association

Jay Shah began his cricket administration career in 2019 and had his first large role in 2013 when he became the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). As a BCCI secretary from 2019 to 2024, Jay Shah made an important contribution to hosting the ODI World Cup in India successfully and helped see cricket in the nation sail through the trying times of COVID-19. He also advocated equal pay for women cricketers as BCCI secretary and has been a member of the cricket administration since 2009.

He was also the Asian Cricket Council president and has proved to be one of the shrewdest cricket administrators of recent times. Jay Shah’s son is also responsible for creating a new NCA in Bengaluru, which has world-class facilities for cricketers.

Jay Shah Leading Cricket To New Levels

With him at the helm, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) declared that cricket would be a part of the LA2028 Olympics. He has also initiated several other measures to make world cricket healthier and became the first ICC president to visit Botswana recently, demonstrating his commitment to the development of cricket.

The President of ICC was recently given the Icon of Excellence award at the Forbes India Leadership Awards 14th edition (FILA 2025). Now with this Open Magazine recognition, he has been put together with names like Mukesh Ambani, Shashi Tharoor, and Pratap Banu Mehta; each renowned for excellence in their own departments.
