A rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) was reportedly fired at the Punjab Police’s Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali on late Monday evening. Although no injury was reported in the blast, it has sent shockwaves across the state.
Some Opposition leaders prayed for people’s safety while some slammed the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government for letting the attack happen under its nose.
Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh said, “Shocked to hear about the blast at the @PunjabPoliceInd Intelligence headquarter in Mohali. Thankfully nobody was hurt. This brazen attack on our police force is deeply concerning and I urge CM @BhagwantMann to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice at the earliest.”
Congress MLA Pargat Singh said, “A blast at Punjab Police intelligence Headquarters in Mohali is a matter of serious concern.I appeal to @BhagwantMann ji to ensure that the peace and tranquility of the state is not disturbed at any cost.”
NSUI Punjab president Akshay Sharma called the attack an intelligence failure and slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for indulging in trivial matters rather than ensuring safety in the state.
“Massive intelligence failure in Mohali blast. This is what happens when the police is forced to spend its energy and focus on non-issues like fighting it out with police of other state for ego of self-centred politicians,” he tweeted.
BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “Tragic news! Just a week after Patiala’s clash; now a blast outside Intelligence Bureau, Mohali Punjab Police instead of chasing Bagga should focus on state’s security. Punjab is a border state & Kejriwal shouldn’t experiment with its peace.”
