Manipur: Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road To Be Widened From Single-Lane As Centre Approves Rs 777.61 Crore Project

The Centre Government has approved a Rs 77.61 crore budget for the redevelopment of Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road Package 3 section of NH-102A. The announcement is made under the annual plan for 2024-25 tenure. In this upgradation process the single-lane route will be converted into a two-lane route.

Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari informed about this through his X handle. He wrote that, “In Manipur, we have sanctioned a budget of ₹777.61 crore for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A. This initiative, under the Annual Plan 2024-25, will upgrade the existing single-lane road to a two-lane configuration with a hard shoulder.”

He also stated that, “Spanning 48 kilometres, the project commences at Khonglo and terminates at Kasom-Khullen. The road serves as a vital link between two key districts of Manipur, Ukhrul and Kamjong.”

He further mentioned in his post that, “This development is poised to enhance road capacity and service quality, significantly lowering vehicle operating costs for users. Furthermore, it is expected to catalyse the growth of tourism, thereby contributing to the socio-economic advancement of the state.”

This project and its development will improve the infrastructure of Manipur. This will also boost tourism. The project will bring new opportunities like boosting local businesses, job opportunities, and others.

The development and upgradation of the route will enhance connectivity and make travel easier for commuters. It will help in the development of the state.
