Madhya Pradesh: Former CM Kamal Nath launches Congress’ Ghar Chalo campaign from Dewas

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday afternoon launched the Congress’ Ghar Chalo, Ghar Ghar Chalo campaign. The state-wide campaign will be launched from Dewas and urges people to “come together and save Madhya Pradesh”. It will run for the entirety of February.

According to updates, shared on the party’s official Twitter handle for Madhya Pradesh, the main intention behind the campaign is to amp up membership, verification of voter list and “expose the failure of BJP”. It also seeks to highlight the work undertaken by Congress and take it to the public.

“Ghar chalo, ghar-ghar chalo abhiyaan — janta se sanvaad ka maha abhiyaan,” it declared on a post.

Congress workers will also visit rural areas to mobilise the party’s grassroots booth-level workers as part of Mission 2023.

“Congress’ house is our Mahatma Gandhi’s house, our Dr Ambedkar’s house, our Nehru’s house, our Congress’s house is the country’s culture,” the former Chief Minister said during an address. The culture of India, he added, was that of ‘connecting’. “Connecting hearts, connecting relationships, connecting relationships, this is the house of Congress,” he added.

Nath also took to Twitter criticising the 2022 budget put forth by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today. “The Union Budget presented today has proved to be completely disappointing. Full of juggling of figures and once again proved to be a false dreamer. There is nothing for any section in this budget. The common people were demanding for a long time to increase the exemption in the income tax slab, but there is no relief provided,’ he tweeted in Hindi.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, he also highlighted specific parts of the Budget and alleged that it had been made keeping the upcoming state Assembly elections in mind. “There is nothing in this budget for farmers, youth, women, working-class, middle-class anyone. This budget is anti-farmer, anti-youth, anti-people. The few announcements that have been made in the budget have also been made keeping in view the upcoming elections in five states,” he wrote.
