Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel  asserted that legal action will be taken against his father Nand Kumar Baghel for making controversial remarks against Brahmins.

Earlier today, the ‘Sarv Brahmin Samaj’ in its complaint alleged that the CM’s father recently appealed to people to boycott Brahmins by terming them as foreigners, and also asked people to not let them enter their villages.

It also accused Nand Kumar Baghel of asking people to “evict” Brahmins out of the country.

Reacting to allegations, Bhupesh Baghel said, “As CM, I have the responsibility to maintain harmony among different communities. If he (Baghel’s father) made a remark against a community, I feel sorry.”

“Legal action would be taken against him,” said the Chhattisgarh CM about his father.

Meanwhile, complainant Naveen Sharma said, “In a video, Nand Kumar Baghel made remarks against Brahmins, calling them foreigners & demanded that they should be sent out of India. His statement was aimed at dividing society. Members of Deen Dayal Vipra Samaj lodged an FIR against him.”

In the past also, the CM’s father had allegedly made derogatory comments against Lord Ram, the official said quoting the complaint.

The outfit also said a video of the purported comments of the CM’s father was available on social media platforms, the official added.

According to police, Nand Kumar Baghel reportedly made the remarks while addressing an event in Uttar Pradesh recently.
