The England and Wales Cricket Board have announced their squad for the upcoming Indian tour and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The squad consists the return of ace batter Joe Root after a gap of an year courtesy of his exploits in the Tests. Jos Buttler will be leading the 2019 ODI World Cup champions in the upcoming ODI marquee set to be held in Pakistan and one more country in the month of February and March. England are known to be one of the most devastating sides in ODI cricket and will look forward on winning the Champions Trophy once again.
However, England’s performance in the past few ODI series hasn’t been much appealing. Jos Buttler and Co ended up losing the 50 Over bilateral series against Australia and West Indies which has given them a reason to rethink on their strategy. Though, the return of Joe Root clears the team’s mindset and game plan which is to strengthen the middle order. The star studded squad also have players such as Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt in the batting lineup who can take their game away on their day.
The English team will be clashing against India in the five-match T20I series and three-match ODI series set to begin from January 22. Jos Buttler will be leading the team in the T20I series against India as well and the ODIs set to be played after the T20Is, will be very crucial on the basis of preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
