Even though Michael Vaughan predicted defeats for India in the England and Australia series, the former England skipper believes all of his predictions this year have been spot on. The former cricketer and full-time cricket pundit sparked a debate on social media by sharing his predictions for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 final between MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Taking notes from the prophecy of fortune-tellers, Vaughan backed Dhoni-led CSK to clinch the fourth IPL title by upstaging KKR at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday. Vaughan not only predicted a CSK win in the IPL 2021 final but the former England batsman also backed star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to take home the Man of the Match trophy.
“As all my predictions this year have been spot on .. I think @ChennaiIPL will win the Final today .. Man of the match will be @imjadeja #IPL2021Final,” Vaughan tweeted on Friday. Vaughan’s tweet soon became the talk of the town on the microblogging site. “Thank you Vaughan sahab Won’t even watch the finals now,” a fan responded to Vaughan’s tweet.
Dhoni-led CSK will lock horns with Morgan’s KKR in the final of the IPL 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While Dhoni-led CSK outclassed Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2021 playoffs, Morgan’s KKR eliminated Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Pant-led side to enter the summit clash with Chennai.
The final of the IPL 2021 will be KKR’s first since the 2014 edition of the cash-rich league. Playing their record 9th final on Friday, the Dhoni-led CSK side is eyeing their fourth IPL title. CSK have played the most IPL finals while the Morgan-led KKR side has never lost a summit clash of the world’s richest T20 league. The 2021 final of the IPL can also be Dhoni’s final game in competitive cricket. Dhoni, who will record his 300th T20 appearance in the shortest format, has already retired from international cricket.
