Rinku Singh is to marry Priya Saroj, Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party.

Priya’s father Tufani Saroj, an SP MLA from Kerakat, told PTI that meaningful discussions on the marriage were held between the two families in Aligarh on February 16. Both the families have agreed to the match although no ring ceremony or pre-wedding events have been planned.

“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed the consent of their families for their relationship. Both the families have agreed to this marriage,” Says Tufani Saroj, as quoted by Rediff

It has happened through a friend of mine called Priya; whose father, as well as herself, plays cricket. Engagements and dates for the marriages would be firmed up subsequent to the last week Parliament session; she will possibly be engaged at Lucknow.

Rinku Singh, who is soon to appear for India in a three-match T20 series against England starting from January 22, will adjust the wedding schedule accordingly without any likely conflicts during the functions.

The sources said the two families had come to Singh’s place in Ozone City, Aligarh, where the two families made an official commitment of alliance over an exchange of shagun and gifts.

Priya Saroj comes from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi. She has been an active SP member for several years. At 25 years of age, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Machhlishahr in Jaunpur district last year. Earlier, she used to practice law and had come out in the open for the first time by campaigning for her father in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Priya did her graduation from Delhi University, arts, and then went for law from Amity University in Noida.
