After the West Bengal government issued a notification relaxing the COVID-19 norms, Eden Gardens will allow 75% seating during India vs West Indies T20 series. On Monday, the state government published a notice stating, “All indoor and outdoor sports activities will be allowed with 75% of the capacity of the venue.
“Whereas, after a review of the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic, State Executive Committee of West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority recommended to continue with the current restrictions in force and allow graded relaxations as necessary.”
Team India will be back in action as they will take on West Indies in a three-match ODI and T20 series. The tour will start with the ODI series on 6th February with the second and third games on the 9th and 11th of the same month. All three games will be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20 series which will begin on 16th February in Kolkata.
For the first time since being whitewashed by South Africa in the ODI series, Team India is back in action. The Rohit Sharma-led side will look to bounce back and try to win the series against the West Indies on their home soil. The Kieron Pollard-led outfit will be high on confidence as they had beaten England in a recently concluded five-match T20 series 3-2.
India will see the arrival of their new white-ball captain Rohit Sharma, who missed the South Africa tour due to a hamstring injury. Rohit Sharma last featured for the Men in Blue in a three-match T20 series against New Zealand in November. India had won that Series 3-0 and Rohit would look to continue from where he left and try to boost the morale of the team.
