Yesteryear’s veteran actress Tina Munim (now Tina Ambani) has been married to the renowned businessman of the Reliance Groups, Anil Ambani for almost three decades now. It was in 1991 when the Bollywood and business industry saw two much-in-love souls unite forever. Tina and Anil got married in February 1991 and unlike any regular couple, their love story had many obstacles which they successfully overcame.
While it is known that Anil’s family was not in agreement with the two’s relationship earlier, the couple parted ways soon after which Tina shifted to Los Angeles in 1987. Tina and Anil did not stay in touch for four years while still being in love.
But destiny had different plans for them. Despite four years of not staying in touch with each other, their love did not diminish. Four years later, it was Anil who contacted Tina after an earthquake hit Los Angeles where she was then placed in.
During an interaction with Simi Garewal on her popular chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, the couple shared how an earthquake helped them end their 4-year split and get married.
After a big earthquake hit Los Angeles, Anil called up Tina to check if she was safe. “That was the time I was so upset and crying away. And, I asked myself why this guy called me, came into my life, and revived all the feelings? Obviously, he cared that’s why he wanted to know whether I am ok or not. But, he did not even complete the conversation. The least he could do is complete the conversation,” she recalled.
Talking about her first meeting with Anil, Tina had said in the same interview, “The first time I met him, I was quite struck by his simplicity. I found him very upfront and genuine… He was unlike the other men I had met because most of the guys I met were from films. Also, we spoke the same language, not literally, but we were brought up in a similar manner.”
Anil also talked about how he had popped the big question to Tina’s mother and not her! “I said that you love your daughter, Tina, very much, and she said, ‘yes, absolutely.’ I said that ‘if that is the case, then you can keep her here otherwise, I very much want to marry her,” he had said.
