The monsoon rains have caused massive disruption to public life, triggering traffic woes in Himachal Pradesh. In the last 24 hours, intense downpour led to the blockage of at least 269 roads, disruption in 285 electricity transformers, and 278 water supply systems. As per the latest daily situation report released at 10 am, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) said that the worst-hit region was Mandi district, with 200 roads blocked due to torrential rains.

Kullu Among The Worst-Hit Districts

Kullu district was the second most affected based on the region’s road access, with 39 roads blocked in Banjar and Nirmand. Additionally, due to rainfall-triggered obstructions, Chamba reported blockage of 32 roads and damage to 17 transformers in its subdivisions, including Salooni, Dalhousie, and Bharmour.

Restoration Services Underway

The SDMA said that the heavy monsoon showers have led to waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides in multiple districts, impacting road connectivity and essential services. Meanwhile, restoration operations are underway in highly affected regions, including Mandi and Kullu.

74 Killed In Himachal So Far

At least 74 were killed in Himachal due to rain-related incidents as of now. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert in Himachal Pradesh, warning of extremely heavy rain in the coming days. SDMA has also cautioned the public from going to landslide-prone zones as the showers could aggravate the situation.
