Due to rise in air quality Index in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management has invoked the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 3 across Delhi-NCR.
This decision from CAQM came after seeing the AQI on Friday. Stage 3 of GRAP was implemented in Delhi-NCR as the pollution level has risen in the region.
The national capital witnessed poor air quality on Friday morning. The residents faced the cold wave along with the poor air. The overall Air Quality Index was observed at 348. This comes under the “Vey Poor” category at 6 am on Friday, January 3, 2025.
The smog layer had covered Delhi like a blanket on Friday morning. The IMD and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology have made a prediction that the air quality is likely to worsen further.
The restrictions which come under stage 3 of GRAP is back again in Delhi.
Restrictions Under GRAP-3
- Under this stage, non-essential construction is prohibited.
- Classes up to fifth grade must switch to hybrid mode.
- The use of the BS-4 and BS-3 diesel cars is prohibited in Delhi-NCR.
- Under this stage there is ban on non-essential diesel-operated medium goods vehicles that meets the BS-4 or the older category.
