Famous Indian actor Emraan Hashmi is pairing up with Yami Gautam in this upcoming courtroom drama, which has just completed its shoot. The movie is untitled yet and has taken its inspiration from the 1985 Shah Bano vs Ahmed Khan case.

According to Hindustan Times, Yami Gautam is reportedly playing the character of Shah Bano and Emraan Hashmi is essaying the role of Ahmed Khan, ex-husband of Shah Bano. And they are done with the film’s shoot.

This is not the first time Suparn S Varma has made a courtroom drama, this film will be the second installment of his courtroom trilogy. The first was Manoj Bajpayee’s Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai (2003).

Forty years ago, on this day, the court gave its verdict on Shah Bano’s case. The court upheld the right of muslim women claiming maintenance after divorce, supporting and giving justice to Shah Bano. A Hindustan Times source close to the project told, “Yami and Emraan are leading this impactful courtroom drama and have finished the shooting schedule. A lot of research has gone into the script to ensure authenticity and the film boasts of several long and intense courtroom scenes. Yami plays Shah Bano, while Emraan’s character draws from Ahmed Khan.”

The film has reportedly been shot in parts of Lucknow and close to other locations near it. “The film promises intense performances and hard-hitting dialogues. The makers are eyeing a global release around October or November this year,” concludes the source.

This is the first time Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam will be seen together in a film. Hashmi’s Ground Zero is releasing on the 25th of April 2025 in theatres. The movie is a war film and Emraan is portraying the role of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey against Sai Tamhankar. Whereas Yami Gautam has recently been seen in Rishab Seth’s Dhoom Dhaam along with Pratik Gandhi and Pavitra Sarkar
