Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre over International Yoga Day celebrations saying that don’t hide behind it.
“It’s Yoga Day not hide behind the Yoga Day,” the former Congress president tweeted.
On the occasion of Yoga Day, PM Modi earlier today said that Yoga is a ray of hope and the source of strength in the fight against the COVID-19.
“When Covid emerged, no country was prepared. At this time yoga became a source of inner strength. Yoga helps in self-discipline, it inculcated faith in people that they could fight this virus. Frontline warriors told me that they made yoga a tool in fighting the virus,” the Prime Minister said.
The UN had proclaimed June 21 as International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014. The draft resolution was proposed by India proposal was introduced by PM Modi – and endorsed by 175 member states.

RaGa slams Centre over COVID compensation
Earlier today, the Wayanad MP launched a scathing attack on the Centre and termed the Modi government’s decision of not paying the ex-gratia compensation to kin of those who died of COVID-19 as “cruelty”.
“It is impossible to evaluate life. The government’s compensation is only a small help, but the Modi government is not ready to even do that,” the Congress leader tweeted in Hindi. “First the lack of treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic and then the false figures and on top of that the government’s cruelty,” he added.
