United States President Donald Trump  announced that the US will introduce a “gold card” for wealthy foreigners. This gold card will grant them the right to live and work in the country, with a pathway to citizenship. However, it will be granted in exchange for a USD five million fee. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that the gold card will replace the existing EB-5 immigrant investor visa program.

“They’ll have to go through vetting, of course,” added Lutnick. President Trump’s announcement came during a media address in the Oval Office. Trump also signed an executive action investigating the copper industry and answered questions on various matters.

Will It Impact Indians?

Trump stated that sales of the gold cards would begin in about two weeks. He further suggested that millions could be sold. “From the legal standpoint, it’s totally legal to do,” he added.

Trump said, “They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be success Share to Twitter and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful.”

When asked if Russian oligarchs would be eligible to buy the cards, Trump responded: “Yeah, possibly. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people.”

It will be open to all the wealthy foreigners from different parts of the country residing in the United States. It is likely to impact Indians also. The official guideline for more information is awaited.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that in Trump’s administration, illegal border crossing has dropped down to 94 per cent and interior arrests have risen by 134 per cent. She further stated that there were only 220 border crossings reported from across the border, which is a 15-year low.

“In President Trump’s first month back in office alone, illegal border crossings hit lows not seen in decades — down 94% over the last year. While interior arrests are up 134%. And this past Saturday this is a significant statistic- there were only 220 illegal border crossings on Saturday this is a 15-year low. Think about that in comparison to the amount of illegal border crossings we saw under the previous administration,” Leavitt added.
