Delhi Metro Tightens Security Ahead Of Republic Day- What Commuters Need To Know!

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that security checks at metro stations will be stricter in preparation for Republic Day, which is on January 26. These heightened security measures will last until January 27, and passengers should expect longer lines during busy times.

A DMRC official mentioned that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will conduct more thorough checks of passengers to ensure safety. Travelers are advised to plan their trips ahead of time, as the increased security may cause delays. Additionally, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will close its runway for 145 minutes each day from January 20 to January 26.

This closure is part of the security preparations for Republic Day celebrations, including rehearsals and a flypast. As a result, over 1,300 flights could be affected, including both departures and arrivals. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about these changes and allow extra time for their journeys.
