Daughter of Najibullah Alikhil, the Afghan ambassador in Pakistan, was kidnapped and tortured before being released by unknown abductors.

Condemning the horrific act, the Afghan foreign ministry said the Pakistani government must act to protect Afghanistan’s diplomatic mission in Pakistan.

Silsila Alikhil was kidnapped in Islamabad while she was on her way home.

“We condemn this disgraceful act in strongest words and urge Pakistan to take steps to secure diplomats and their families,” the statement added.

Unknown individuals severely tortured Silsila Alikhil

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Afghanistan, Silsila was abducted on July 16 for several hours, during which unknown individuals severely tortured her.

“After being released from kidnappers’ captivity, she is in medical care at a hospital,” the MoFA said and strongly condemned this heinous act and expressed its deep concern over the safety and security of diplomats, their families, and staff members of the Afghan political and consular missions in Pakistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Govt of Pakistan to take immediate necessary actions to ensure full security of Afghan Embassy and Consulates as well as immunity of the country’s diplomats and their families in accordance with international treaties and conventions,” it said.

On Friday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani blasted Pakistan, saying despite repeated assurances by Prime Minister Imran Khan and his generals, networks and organizations are openly backing the Taliban and are celebrating the destruction of the assets and capabilities of the Afghan people and state.

10,000 Jihadi fighters from Pakistan have entered Afghanistan

Ghani said intelligence estimates indicate the influx of over 10,000 Jihadi fighters from Pakistan and other places in the past month. He further said that there is a consensus among credible international observers that Pakistan has not taken steps to sever relationships with terrorist organizations.

Expressing disappointment over Ghani’s remark, Khan it is unfair to blame Pakistan for what is going on in Afghanistan and the Taliban.

Meanwhile, amid the Taliban’s growing offensive in Afghanistan, the delegations of the Afghan government and the Taliban began a fresh round of talks on Saturday in Qatar.

During the meet, the Taliban’s deputy leader Abdul Ghani Baradar said that to ensure Afghanistan’s prosperity, a central and independent Islamic system is needed.
