With Virat Kohli-led Team India side returning to training prior to their warm-up match against County Championship XI, Indian opener Rohit Sharma also announced his comeback after a three-week break in some style. After the conclusion of the inaugural ICC World Test Championships, the Kohli-led Team India side was handed a short three-week break from cricket and bio-bubble life by the Indian management.

The Kohli-led Team India reassembled in Durham following the short three-week break on Friday. Rohit, who is Team India’s all-format opener and vital cog of the Kohli-led side announced his comeback by sharing a witty post on Instagram. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Rohit shared photos of himself after joining the Team India camp ahead of the upcoming warm-up match against County Championship XI.

Nicknamed Hitman for his explosive batting style, Rohit was all smiles as the Indian opener shared a couple of photos after returning to the national camp. The Indian opener enjoys a massive social media following across all platforms. Thus, Rohit’s latest social media activity soon became the talk of the town on the internet. The Hitman’s Instagram post has already garnered over a million likes and the Indian opener was mentioned in more than 45k tweets on the microblogging site.

On the work front, Rohit had a fruitful run in the ICC World Test Championship with the Kohli-led Team India side. Rohit cemented his place in the Test setup and scored 1094 runs for the Kohli-led side. Rohit played 12 matches in the inaugural Test Championship and the swashbuckling batsman finished as India’s 2nd highest run-getter after vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (1159).

Kohli-led Team India finished runners-up in the Test Championship after a devastating trounce at the hands of Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the final. Since Kohli and Co. are scheduled to play the Joe Root-led side in their next assignment, Indian players and staff have remained in England after the Test Championship final. India will play the series opener of the five-Test series with England from August 4.
