At least two jawans were killed and two others were injured on Sunday in an encounter with Naxalites in the forests of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur. A search operation is underway, Bastar Police said. 31 Naxalites have also been killed in the encounter, according to reports. The encounter took place in the forests under the National Park area

In yet another encounter recently, a joint operation launched by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) led to an altercation with armed Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. The operation kicked off after intelligence reports suggested the presence of Maoists in the Kanker-Naryanapur border area.

The encounter commenced around 12:30 pm between Maoists and the security forces. According to reports, these Maoists belong to the banned Maoist organizations operating in the North Bastar-Maar division. Reports indicated that a few Naxalites were neutralized or injured during the gunfight. A search operation was carried out by the security forces in the area later.
