Ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati launched a scathing attack at her rivals saying that the BJP, SP and Congress are furious over her party’s connection with people from all communities.
Terming the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) attitude spiteful and partisan, Mayawati said people are connecting to the BSP after being disheartened by the ruling party.
“Dalits, tribals, backwards, Muslims, other religious minorities and even upper castes, especially Brahmins, are swiftly connecting to BSP after being disheartened by the spiteful and partisan attitude of BJP. This has not only made BJP but also SP, Congress and others, furious,” ANI quoted Mayawati as saying.
She also warned that the anti-BSP forces’ conspiracy will get lowly and vitriolic as the UP elections get closer.
“As the UP Assembly elections will get closer, anti-BSP forces’ conspiracy will get lowly, vitriolic and full of mischievous news. Just like it is seen here before every election,” she said.
BSP to go solo in UP polls
Earlier in June, Mayawati had announced that the BSP will contest all elections “small and big” on its own in the future, signalling the end of the much-discussed Bahujan Samaj Party-Samajwadi Party alliance forged for the Lok Sabha polls.
“Everyone is aware that forgetting everything of the past as also the anti-BSP and anti-Dalit decisions like reservation in promotions and bad law and order during the SP rule in 2012-2017, BSP adhered to the ”gathbandhan dharma” with the Samajwadi Party in the interest of the country,” she said in a tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).
