BJP Distances Itself From Kangana Ranaut’s Controversial Farmers’ Protest Remark

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has faced criticism from the BJP leadership following her controversial comments on the farmers’ protest. The BJP clarified that her remarks do not represent the party’s views, issuing a statement today emphasizing that Ranaut is not authorized to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party.

The backlash comes after the 38-year-old MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency suggested that the farmers’ protest could have resulted in a crisis similar to Bangladesh if the government had not taken strong actions. The BJP stated that Ranaut had been directed to refrain from making such statements in the future.

BJP Leaders Distance Themselves from Ranaut’s Comments

BJP leaders from Haryana and Punjab, regions heavily impacted by the protests, advised Kangana Ranaut to avoid making such comments. Harjit Grewal, a BJP leader from Punjab, emphasized that Ranaut’s statements were personal and not aligned with the party’s stance, which he said remains supportive of farmers.

Congress Responds

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala, campaigning in Haryana, responded to Ranaut’s remarks, sarcastically wishing her a “speedy recovery” and questioning the BJP’s silence on the matter.

Past Controversies

Ranaut, known for her provocative remarks, has been a vocal critic of the farmers’ protest. In 2020, she was involved in another controversy when she allegedly misidentified a woman farmer and made derogatory comments, sparking a major backlash. This incident resurfaced after she was involved in an altercation with a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport earlier this year.
