Cheteshwar Pujara is not expected to be chosen by BCCI for the upcoming test series against England as suggested by a Crcbuzz report. Fans spoke about a possible return for Pujara after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced they were retiring from the Test cricket. On the other hand, the report states that not all selectors or management people think ‘looking back’ is a good idea.

What Does The Reoprts Says

“There was some chatter that the selectors should look at Cheteshwar Pujara (37) for a place in view of the absence of seniors like Rohit and Kohli. But the impression one gets is that the selectors and team management are in no mood to look back,” the report read.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s Test Stats

Cheteshwar Pujara has consistently been one of India’s most trusted batters in Test matches, famous for holding the innings together. In his Test career he has scored 7,195 runs, averaging a high 43.60. The highest Test score he made was 206 which suggests he is a player who can make a real difference. Pujara has surprised many with his century and half-century numbers, especially when conditions get tough. Although his strike rate looks normal, it indicates VVS’s very classic way of batting at the Test level—tough, disciplined and highly useful for India.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s Test Records

Pujara has set many impressive records in Test cricket which showcase why he is valued in the Test format. Combining his batting and feilding he has made 5000 runs and has been a part of more than 50 dismissals. Because of his 19 century scores, reaching three double hundreds and a historic hundred and ninety in a match, Pujara is known as top performer in Test cricket. His records show that he once batted every day of a five-day match and didn’t get out when he had a score of 145. Moreover, he gathered his 1,000th run in just 18 innings, a result that ranks him 16th among all players for quickest to achieve it.
