It’s no secret that Akshay Kumar is among the biggest superstars in the country. He is the only Bollywood actor who has consistently come out with three to four releases each year for a while now. Last year, when the theatres reopened post the Covid-induced lockdown, it was Akshay’s Sooryavanshi that brought back the audience to the cinema halls.
In 2022, Akshay has had two releases thus far, Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj. Although the two movies took a decent start at the box office, they couldn’t go on to score big. Despite their underwhelming performances, Akshay’s massive fan following remains intact as the 54-year-old actor recently topped a prestigious popularity chart.
In the Ormax Media’s list of Most Popular Male Stars (Hindi) for the month of May, Akshay has occupied the numero-uno position, toppling Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Hrithik Roshan, among others.

With the kind of line-up Akshay has for the coming months, it doesn’t look like any other superstar will be able to take his throne anytime soon. He will next be seen in Aanand L. Rai’s Raksha Bandhan alongside Bhumi Pednekar. Post that, Akshay has Ram Setu in which he features with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha.
Akshay also has a couple of multi starrers in his kitty – Selfie with Emraan Hashmi and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff.
As for the Khans, Aamir is all set for the release of his much-awaited Laal Singh Chaddha. Salman’s upcoming films include Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and Tiger 3, whereas SRK has as many as three movies slated for release in 2023 – Pathaan, Jawaan and Dunki.
