In the last one and a half years, many artists and actors have come out in the open and talked about their financial plights. While many have been out of work due to Covid-19 Bollywood actress Parveena, who worked with Aamir Khan in Lagaan, suffered from a stroke last year and that has left her in a tricky spot financially.
She recently spoke about her plight in an interview. She also revealed that Aamir Khan is not aware of her situation otherwise he would have helped her out.
The actress told Etimes, “Aamir bhai doesn’t know about my illness. If he had known, he would have definitely helped me. As we all know that he has helped his co-stars from Lagaanincluding Sri Vallabh Vyas. All I want to tell him is, mujhe apne office mein kaam de do (give me some work in your office please)”
Over the years, Aamir Khan has helped many artists in the industry. She receive some help last year from Akshay Kumar and CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes’ Association). This year Sonu Sood helped her out, too.
Parveena also shared that she had arthritis from 2012 and the condition of her hands has become such that she couldn’t work as an actor anymore.
The Lagaan star also shared, “After my health improved a while ago, I had started working as a casting director. I want to continue with that work and it is imperative that I am employed to be able to take care of myself.”
Coming back to the film, Lagaan was released in 2001. The film is considered to be one of the most iconic ones in Bollywood.It was written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It was the maiden project from Aamir Khan Productions and was shot in villages near Bhuj. Parveena played the role of one of the villagers in the film that also stars Aamir Khan as Bhuvan Latha, Gracy Singh as Gauri, Rachel Shelley as Elizabeth Russell and Paul Blackthorne as Captain Andrew Russell.
It was set in 1893, during the late Victorian period of India’s colonial British Raj.
