England will begin their participation in the World Test Championship 2025-27 with a series against India at Headingley in Leeds, starting this Friday. When England anticipate the five-match series, Joe Root has stirred the limelight, considered by many to be the pillar of the team. Joe Root is a quality player whose performances are considered so impressive that he is likely to take the series by a storm and is likely to break several records that bowling legend and Indian batting king Sachin Tendulkar had registered during his career.

Half-Century Milestone In IND Vs ENG Tests

Indian legend and former captain Sunil Gavaskar has had the highest number of half-centuries against England in the Test formats of the game having registered 16 in his illustrious career. Joe root who is in the third position grabbing 11 fifties is catching up. In case Root manages to go past the half-century figure in the upcoming Test series six times, he will beat the record that Sachin Tendulkar currently holds with 13 and establish a new milestone of highest number of half-centuries by any player in Test matches played against India and England. Regularity and clear interest in runs will serve as a sign that Root needs to achieve this milestone in the prestigious five-game series of Tests that begins on 20 June 2022.

Root Eyes Tendulkar And Kohli’s All-Format Records

Besides his attempts to break Tendulkar record in Test games, Root is also on his way to breaking the record of top tally of runs in international encounters between India and England. Being 3858 score, he just needs an extra 133 points to overtake Tendulkar and 179 points to overtake top 3 scores of Virat Kohli. Looking at half- tons made in the two formats in India-England clashes, Root is in the 28th position, five runs behind the equal highest holder Kohli and Tendulkar. With five games scheduled, Root has a promising chance to surpass several elite milestones and solidify his reputation as one of the most prolific batters in this prestigious contest.
