The 8th Pay Commission has ignited widespread speculation and discussion nationwide, as the 7th Pay Commission nears its conclusion. As a result, expectations are rising for the formation of a new Pay Commission to succeed the current one. The government is likely to announce the formation of the 8th Pay Commission in the upcoming Union Budget of 2025-26, according to several media reports.

8th Pay Commission: Salaries Could Soar By 186%

Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery, has recently said that the forthcoming 8th Pay Commission may consider introducing a fitment factor of “at least 2.86”. The government’s approval of this fitment factor will increase the minimum salary by 186% to Rs 51,480 from the current Rs 18,000.

Additionally, the government might increase the minimum pension for central government employees from Rs 9,000 to Rs 25,740, using the same fitment factor. Here’s a look at the minimum salary of central government employees under previous pay commissions.
